As a fan of aviation, I always try to include an aviation related places to visit or any #AVgeek activity to do whenever I travel and explore new places. In the past Alhamdulillah I managed to attend local air carnivals in Adelaide (read here<\/a>), do some aircraft spotting in Osaka (read here<\/a>) or sleep in an aviation-themed hotel in Kyoto (read here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Keeping up with this trend, for this #PerthPlusPlus trip, I managed to squeeze a couple of hours out of our last day in Perth to visit the Perth Aviation Heritage Museum.<\/p>\n

Highly recommended by reviewers on Tripadvisor, my wife and I took the 10km drive out from the city to check out this museum. Entrance fee is at AUS$10 per adult.<\/p>\n

\"2\"<\/p>\n

The Aviation Heritage Museum offers a mixture of experience of civilian and military aviation through its extraordinary aviation displays \u2014static planes, equipment, audio video and info on posters. They also offer the service of guides and special tours.<\/p>\n

\"5\"<\/p>\n

\"6\"<\/p>\n

We took our own time to read about each displays to appreciate its background. I love this Robbin Miller story. Also known as “The Sugarbird Lady”, she was an Australian aviator and nurse.<\/p>\n

I love reading about the early days of aviation in Australia. The heroes of aviation that sacrifice their lives (considering the technology back then), in flying people and goods across the big area of land down under and outside Australia.<\/p>\n

Unlike the museum that I went in Adelaide (read here), this museum does not allow visitors to get into the cockpit which is a bit of a let down. This is probably done to protect the planes from naughty hands but yeah I would love to get an up-close look on the instrument panels of these classics. Nevertheless, thanks to my \u201cselfie-pod\u201d and Sony Action Cam, managed to snap a few interior photos.<\/p>\n

Dakota C47 Douglas \u2014 once upon a time flew and served Asian countries including Malaysia. Was delivered to the museum in 1981!<\/p>\n

This Bell UH-1H Iroquois chopper displayed outside is quite cool. Nicely maintained with surrounding speakers blasting some cool war songs.<\/p>\n

Even when you take a break, youre surrounded with planes. My kind of museum!<\/p>\n

Is it worth a visit? I would say yes if you have some extra time in your travel schedule. Being a fan of civil aviation, I don\u2019t really fancy the military planes but the displays on the early days of flights in Australia were quite nice. Whatever it is, always a good feeling to be surrounded with planes and even nicer to learn new knowledge on aviation especially from this part of the world.<\/p>\n
