After having a good time riding the classic train from Beaufort to Tenom and back, it was time to head back to KL. For those who missed out on my previous train ride story, click on the photo below to recap.<\/span><\/p>\n

These days, the choice on which airlines and flights that I take depends heavily on the fare and value for money. Surprisingly with only 2 weeks before flight, Malaysia Airlines gave the best deal among 3 airlines that service the KUL-BKI-KUL route. It was quite cheap that we decided to try our luck and throw in a MHupgrade bid.<\/p>\n

Few days before the flight, we got the good news that we have been upgraded. Just exactly what we needed as we have been outside for most of the day and the chance to freshen up and relax before a flight is definitely something that we look forward to.<\/p>\n

\"2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Check-in was smooth. Business class lanes which can also be used for Enrich Silver\/Gold\/Platinum members were quiet and within minutes we got our bags and \u201cikan masin\u201d boxes checked-in and boarding passes printed.<\/p>\n

\"3\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Malaysia Airlines\u2019s Golden Lounge at Kota Kinabalu is known among frequent travelers as one of the nicest domestic lounge in Malaysia. It was my first time entering this lounge and I love the ambiance and the ample space within the lounge located at one end of the departure hall.<\/p>\n

\"4\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Comfy sofas in a quiet corner with a view of the airside. My kind of space.<\/p>\n

\"5\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Dining tables.<\/p>\n

\"6\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Quite a generous spread of food from hot rice dishes to noodles and light snacks.<\/p>\n

\"7\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"8\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Even with many Malaysia Airlines flights serving BKI, the lounge is big enough to ensure private space for the guests.<\/p>\n

\"9\"<\/a><\/p>\n

But this is the facility that I enjoyed the most after a long day!<\/p>\n

\"10\"<\/a><\/p>\n

\"11\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Clean and comfy Surau.<\/p>\n

\"12\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Boarding was on-time despite the heavy rain. The OneWorld livery.<\/p>\n

\"13\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Settling down at our favorite 4A & 4C seats, welcome drinks were offered with options of Orange, Pink Guave and Apple juice.<\/p>\n

\"14\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Take of was on-time followed by a bumpy climb to reach the cruising altitude of 34,000 feet.<\/p>\n

\"15\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Dinner. Rice with Ayam Masak Merah. Unfortunately it does not taste as good as it looks. Something about Malaysia Airlines catering from BKI, it is always hit and miss.<\/p>\n

\"16\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The other option. Taste slightly better.<\/p>\n

\"17\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After-meal \u201cThe Tarik\u201d is always something I look forward on board a Malaysia Airlines flight.<\/p>\n

\"18\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The rest of the flight was quite pleasant. Lights were dimmed and most passengers dozed of for at least an hour. I went on to watch the movie The 33 which was a great movie based on the real events of the 2010 mining disaster, in which a group of thirty-three miners were trapped inside the San Jos\u00c3\u00a9 Mine in Chile for more than two months.<\/p>\n

\"19\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Was it worth the upgrade to Business Class? I would say that as we got our tickets quite cheap and the bid that we put in was on a low side, it was a good value for money deal. Not so much of the in-flight business class experience, but more for the comfort of the Golden Lounge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
