With the mission to experience a memorable freezing winter in Harbin accomplished, we head back to Kuala Lumpur via Beijing.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was an option to spend a few hours in the airport and fly straight home but since both of us had never visited Beijing, we may as well spend a night in the world’s third most populous city proper.<\/p>\n

And no visit to Beijing is complete without a trip to the Great Wall of China.<\/p>\n

Thanks to TripAdvisor, we found out about Mark\u2019s Guide & Driver Service. Mark was kind enough to customise our half-day excursion to arrange a car to pick us up at Beijing Airport after the 2.5 hours domestic flight from Harbin for a reasonable rate.<\/p>\n

The same car and driver then brought us to Mutianyu section of Great Wall of China. It beats getting on tour busses or public bus.<\/p>\n

\"1\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The place was empty when we got there. We were told by our awesome driver that tourist busses will usually come in the morning and leaves by early afternoon. At the same time smog was bad a day earlier so perhaps many cancelled their trip. Alhamdulillah, we did not as it was an OK weather and there were literally no queue for us at any part of our Great Wall of China experience.<\/p>\n

\"2\"<\/a><\/p>\n

We chose to ride on the \u201ccable way\u201d or cable car. Less authentic experience (vs. hiking) \u00c2\u00a0but definitely faster.<\/p>\n

\"3\"<\/a><\/p>\n

You could see in the photo above the toboggan track which is a cooler option to come down from the Wall.<\/p>\n

I have to be honest that the experience being there was better than what I had expected. It was scenic and a nice walk from one tower to another.<\/p>\n

It gets even more fun coming down from the Wall. The toboggan way.<\/p>\n

As it was only both of us throughout the 10-15 minutes ride, we could ride at our own pace and enjoyed both the view and the thrill.<\/p>\n

We spent another day touring the \u201cmust-sees\u201d in Beijing before flying home the next day.<\/p>\n
