Wearing the hat of a Malaysian, a frequent traveler and an aviation enthusiast blogger, I am happy to see klia2 joining the list of Malaysian icons and being the latest pride and joy of Malaysia. #MalaysiaBoleh!

I’ve been receiving at least 50 requests from my friends and blog readers for a blog post or a preview of klia2, the world’s largest purpose-built terminal dedicated for low-cost carrier. Thank you for all the requests but please allow me to instead direct you to the official and comprehensive klia2 Passenger Guide on the official website. This is a very useful guide that includes FAQ and klia2 floor directory. Therefore I’m not going to write any ‘guide’ or walkthrough post 🙂

Instead I’ll only be sharing some of the photos that I took during the klia2 open day and the first week of klia2’s operations, during my arrival from Kota Kinabalu on Malindo Air as well as some are snapshots taken after-work while having my personal “jalan-jalan and makan-makan” around the public areas of the terminal.

Gateway@klia2 — where the fun begins.

A fresh new concept that integrates a shopping mall, car park, transportation hub with the klia2 terminal.

Sandwiched between the drop-off and Main Terminal, gateway@klia2 is the bustling integrated complex that will welcome 45 million people into the largest low-cost carrier terminal in the world. These millions include not just flyers but meeters and greeters from all over the nation, and shoppers from surrounding residential districts in Sepang, Putrajaya, Bangi and Nilai – just to name a few.

With 350,000 square feet of net lettable space spanning over 4 levels, a 6,000-bay multi-storey car park and a fresh airport-within-a-mall concept, it is fertile territory for success.
Channelling people to klia2 is the Transport Hub at gateway@klia2. It links the airport to the Express Rail Link (ERL), with allotted pickup / drop-off areas for coaches, taxis, rented vehicles and private transportation.

Driving? Bus? Taxi? Train? All will bring you here to Gateway@klia2.

Last minute souvenir shopping? Something to eat before the flight? Catching up with friends and families? Weekend family outing? Something for everyone at klia2. Even an international grocery store!

After passing through the mall, guests will arrive at the terminal building where all the usual travel procedures can be completed in an efficient and comfortable manner.

Plenty of F&B and shopping at this part of the terminal as well 🙂

Here’s a quick preview of the domestic departure/arrival area. I love the spacious gates and comfortable seats along with more shopping and dining options including brands like Victoria secret, Upin-Ipin and Uncle Lim’s.

In part 2, I’ll share some of the photos from the international departure including the unique skybridge. No photos can replace actual experience going through this new terminal so make your way to klia2 soon! 🙂
