Review: Nasi Kandar Din Pak Omaq @ Shah Alam
Recently someone commented on my “Nasi Ganja @ Raihan Nasi Kandar” blog post invited me to try out a new Nasi Kandar joint in Shah Alam.
Being both a fan of Nasi Kandar and a Shah Alam-ian, I decided to give the new Nasi Kandar Din Pak Omaq a try.
Located in the newer side of Section 16 Shah Alam, Nasi Kandar Din Pak Omaq occupies one small shop unit in one of the apartment blocks.

Simple setup, few tables, a TV, drinks counter and a food counter with a few pots of Nasi Kandaq dishes.
The Nasi Kandaq served here is more towards the “malay style” from Penang so don’t expect it to be similar to those in Nasi Kandar Raihan or Pelita with hundreds of dishes. For a start, Nasi Kandar Din Pak Omaq has a few main dishes with the star being the freshly prepared Ayam Goreng rempah.
I was rushing for time so decided to skip the Ayam Goreng Berempah and tried the Ikan Bawal and Bendi with Kuah campuq.
While my wife tried the Daging Hitam, Sayur and Salted Egg with kuah campuq.
Both tasted quite good. The spices from all the kuah blend nicely in my mouth. Both daging and bawal were tender and tasty. The only complaint is that the dishes were a bit cold, should be kept warm all the time.
Price was definitely cheaper than the usual Indian muslim Nasi Kandar joints. Customer service was good and friendly. I would come again to try out the Ayam Berempah. The place could use more variety in their Nasi Kandar dishes offering as well. Long way to go to reach the standards of Nasi Kandar Royale/Raihan but a good start for a small joint. Siapa lagi nak sokong perniagaan kecil kalau bukan kita semua!
