I haven’t had anything to post so I guess I just share some of the photos from my today’s trip to Batu Caves. I’ve been driving past Batu Caves for ages but I’ve always have no real reason to visit it. So when my work-related visitor from UK asked me about Batu Caves, I shamelessly volunteered myself to bring her there.
The cave is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia which attracts over 1.5 million pilgrims yearly, making it one of the largest annual gatherings anywhere in the world.
We reached Batu Caves at 10am and it was a hazy day. Despite the not-the-best visibility/weather for sightseeing, many tourists from all over the world already at Batu Caves by the time we reached there.
Welcome to BT Caves.

It was a hazy day hence photos turned out all hazy…

Pigeon feeding for those who are too lazy to go on the stairs…

I don’t blame those who don’t want to go on the stairs. It’s 272 steep steps.

I took the steps as part of my preparation towards my Kinabalu Challenge. So after 4-weeks ok daily swim, would I be able to make 272 steps?
The start.

The stairs offer magnificent view. Always good to take a few seconds every 20-30 steps to enjoy the surrounding.

A monkey that can no longer bothers with tourist like me.

Halfway..

After about 80 steps, you can already have a nice view of KL, just don’t look down if you’re scared of heights. If you’re lucky you can enjoy a view of girl wearing skirt on higher steps, the view of KL buildings.

After about 20-minutes! 272 steps. Not good at all. My head hurts a bit. Probably because I did not do any warming up but mainly it’s because I haven’t reach my fitness level that is acceptable to my standard

It’s nice to visit the caves.

A holy-place for many so it’s important to dress accordingly and respect the surrounding.

It was a good trip. I enjoyed brining a foreigner to a place we proudly call “Tourist Attraction”. It’s a small thing that I can do to overcome many weaknesses that we have before being called a real tourist attraction.

IndependentQueen: No. It’s not damn smelly. When you have big crowd, there’s always smell of people. It’s not something that one cannot handle.
