Honeymoon in Greece >> Part 1
It’s time for me to share some of the photos from my honeymoon in Athens. It’s gonna be a multi-part Trip Report!
Right after my wedding reception in Shah Alam, It was time for ouroney Moon! Santorini, here I come! The idea to go to Greece came after we went through some travel sites. Me and Jiji was looking at a ‘crazy beautiful scenery’ place with 10 degrees +- weather and not many tourists. So we went online and start to ask people and it was then went my colleague recommended Santorini. The rest was history….
We went shopping online and booked Emirates over other airlines as I prefer single carrier that offers full halal meal, great IFE and affordable price. We secured RM4,400 all-inclusive ticket for KUL-DXB-ATH-DXB-KUL. Creative scheduling also allowed me to get a free night in DXB on my return flight.
The journey begins in KLIA. I did not check-in online despite being advised to do so since I thought I can come to KLIA earlier and avoid the queue. I was wrong, BIG TIME. A long queue was there even before the counter opens. After 45 minutes, we finally checked in all the way to Athens. I managed to get the row 4@8@for 2’ seats as I had reserved it online through “Manage Bookings”.
The boarding pass…..long flight begins..
It was a 777-300 and we left KLIA on-time. Tired from weeks of wedding preparation and reception I went straight to sleep only to be waken by smell of “Nasi Lemak”. I was right, the FAs were serving the meals. The bad thing about the ‘couple seats’ at the back of the plane is you get serve last hence all the Nasi Lemak was gone.
We reached Dubai and were transported by bus to Terminal 3, the new and glamorous EK terminal. I’m impressed with EK. So many flights to all 4 corners of the world. I swear there a couple of cities I’ve never heard of.
I love the Terminal 3 despite not having any paid or free shower facilities. I managed to sleep for a couple of hours on the sleeper’s chair and was impressed by the cleanliness of the Terminal. The only thing to complain is the non-stop flight announcement! ANNOYING!
Despite being a world class terminal, this can also happen…
Walking can be challenging…
I love walkalators.
One day I’ll fly on A380…one day!
After 6 hours of transit in DXB, we were ready for another 5 hours of flight to Athens on EK’s Boeing 777-300.
At the gate, noticed that EK’s invested a lot for the comfort of passengers. One day I’ll use one of these:
Flight to Athens was good. It was a full flight but we managed to get the seats that we pre-booked which was 1st row of Economy.
We love the meals, the service and the fact that we got one of the best seats despite smaller IFE!
We arrived in Athens right before sun sets and went straight to the city for one night rest and tour before leaving for Santorini Island on a local airline. Coming up on next post, photos of Athens…. 🙂
