SIFE World Cup 2008 Singapore – Opening Round Results

I’ve predicted this on my last post. My predictions are not that bad. I got 8 out of 16 teams right. UiTM representing Malaysia lost to UK and Canada. The shocker is US team being champions for many times could not even secure a third place in its league. This shows that the trend of expectation for projects have changed and goes way beyond the presentation itself.

There were 41 teams competing in the opening round. It’s impossible to watch it all. I ended up watching 5 teams from different continents.

My favorite team that i watched yesterday must be SIFE Ghana!

As cool as cucumber before presenting

They did not ‘present’, they tell a story. And a very emotional story about changing the world by changing their community one person at a time.

One of their peoject is to help mentall illness patient in hospital to get back on their feet by producing soap. A really meaningful project i would say. Too bad they only came 3rd in their league and spirit award winner and did not make it to the semi-final. Maybe they did not impact enough people, but they really impressed me!

Then it was the awards ceremony for the opening rounds. Its always great to feel the energy of this ‘olympic’!

Late last night, i went out with my SIFE Singapore friend and sife students from a uni in Sydney. Went to have some ice cream and walkaround at the beautiful Clarke Quay.
