Raya Celebration 2008!

I had a blast 1st day raya in Kampung Acheh Yan Kedah. It’s true that when it comes to quality time with family, it’s priceless. Although I’m spending only Day 1 of Raya before making my way to Singapore, I’m very much delighted
I’m waiting for my flight to Singapore, I’ll make my raya post short and sweet, after all a photo tells a thousands words.
Raya is also about get-together and be closer with each other and food always blends in nicely with this concept. The normal ‘gotong-royong’ where the ladies prepare all the delicious cuisine. Usuall meal would be the normal ketupat, lontong and traditional acheh dessert.

This year I celebrated Eidul Fitri in Kampung Aceh. It’s back to the real Kampung! When most people speak fluent Acheh language, eat Acheh food this is as close as getting to Acheh itself!
Typical Acheh design house.

My grandparents house is simpler and less traditional.

Due to limited space to sleep in the small house, we opted to stay in a nearby HomeStay! This is a very interesting concept!! Giving us towners a blend of nature and basic facilities. It even has a free wifi! I’ll do a separate review on this place!

What is Raya without the tradition of seeking for forgiveness. It’s always an emotional moment and the brightest side of this celebration!

and of course, new attire for this Victory Day!

and the tradition of Kuih raya or raya Cookies! This raya cookies traveled on business class ![]()

never been missed, the announcement of Hari Raya

Raya this year, I went for prayer in a small “Surau in Kampung Acheh. Definitely more personalized, reflective and fun ![]()

Clean yourself for the prayer or abolution can be done in the river stream just next to the entrance to the surau. Refreshing right?

I was early and even had the chance to hit this thing as a signal that prayer is going to start!

Thanks all for your Raya Wishes!
It was a fun raya! Too bad I don’t have enough time to sit down and blog about it properly. Next up, Singapore!
