High school love. Remember your high school sweetheart? The first (or first few loves u had?) Remember feeling being on top of the world when your cute little love letter got replied by someone you admire? Remember the feeling of being teased by your friends that you like someone, when in your mind you really want to be teased? All these remind me of high school. Five fun years of laughter, smiles, tears of joy and lots of friends. That’s how I described my high school years.
With all the drama in high school, it is no surprised that many movies use high school as a theme. Movie titles like Can’t Hardly Wait, Bring It On, She’s All That from the US Movie Scene need no further introduction to the high school teenagers in Malaysia especially in cities. Most have seen it and many have dreamt of having high school life just like the movies.
Having watched so many US high school movies, I was delighted to be able to watch a Japanese high school movie for a change On my flight from Sydney to KL last week, I accidentally switched my in-flight personal entertainment set to a Japanese movie named Sky Of Love.

Sky of Love or Koizora (Original Japanese Title) is a movie adapted from a popular novel for young people by Mika, which was originally distributed by a cell-phone network in Japan, reaching more than 11 million readers, and later went on to sell 1.5 million copies in paperback.
Mika is a shy and pretty high school girl who misplaces her mobile phone and finds it a few days later, only to begin receiving calls from a secret admirer. Mika and the secret admirer boy finally meet after a few weeks, and when she sets eyes on handsome and mysterious Hiro, she’s immediately love-struck. But that’s just the beginning of the story. This movie is much better than many US High School movies. Sky of Love portrays real life teenager’s tragedy such as friendship, sex, gangsters, abortion, rape and BFF. The movie focuses on the suffering of those who go through challenges of life at a much earlier age all because of Love.
I would recommend watching this movie as it is quite entertaining and touching at times. If I was entertained to watch it on a small in-flight screen, I’m sure you would enjoy it on a nice big cinema screen. Sky of Love is now showing at Cineleisure.
