Brand Review: LCCT (KLIA) FOOD GARDEN

On the 22nd December, The new Low Cost Carrier Terminal in KLIA (LCCT KLIA) food garden was opened for public. Recently I had the chance to drop by and check out the new facility. My first impression was “Finally, they make buildings that are BIG enough!. I still remember when the LCC Terminal was 1st launched. It was insanely small for a booming low-cost industry. All this while the choice of food was super poor with either McDonalds, Asian Kitchen or Coffee Bean in the public area and a small deli café in the departure hall. So I was excited to learn about this new Food Garden.

It is located in a very convenient location. Just 2-minutes walk from the terminal and there’s a covered walkway for sunny and rainy days. The size of the building is big and spacious as the area is as large as the whole check-in area in the terminal.

It is a clean and well-maintained facility. The only question is how long will this be maintained. I’m keeping this blog post in a time capsule and I will post another review on LCCT food garden in 6 months and 1 year time to see how the maintenance and operation performs after some period of time.

The food looks good and there’s a huge variety of food that reflects Malaysia’s multiracial and multi states society. The price is slightly higher than normal food court that you see in shopping malls but at least it’s cheaper than usual restaurants at airports.

The stalls

Flight information is displayed on few LCD screens and announcements are patched through the speakers.

There are plenty of plastic seats and I doubt it reach full capacity during off-peak times. A tip for backpackers transiting in KL LCCT, this place can be your “Hilton and “JW Marriot. It’s fully air-conditioned, 24-hours, clean, available toilets, subtle flight announcement. You can easily catch few hours of nap here. As long as you remain low and not become an eye-sore.

One thing I like about this place is how marble table tops are used instead of cheap-looking plastics. It does give a glimpse of premium into this ‘low-cost’ terminal.

So the next time you’re in LCCT and feeling hungry, drop by at LCCT Food Garden :)
