Azuan’s Job Interview Tips #001 -Always Ask Question

This is an on-going tips for recent graduates on how to tackle the interviewer and get the attention/spotlight…this is how i got my job(s)…so it might not work for every1…Whatevs!

Always Ask Question

There will be a time during an interview where the interviewer(s) will ask “Any Question?”

Most Interview 101 books and website will say “Yes! Ask Questions: It shows u’ve done your research and show interest towards the job”. My answer. “Yes: Do ask questions” but keep it light and easy.

Here’s a short conversation about this topic that i had with a friend who is going to an interview:

Mr. I:
what should i ask to the interviewer tomorrow? wanna give him hard time too to show my value

Azuan:
ok ask question is smart. but don;t ask question that makes u look like a candidate that just read “Interview Guide Book : Always Ask Questions”.

1) 1st of all never wait till the interviewer ask “any question?” it’s during the casual chat or when he or she’s explaining the company or the job, u shoot 1-2 questions. when he ask “Any Question?” at the end….just ask 1 simple closure question.

2) Questions can be about the industry, industry in Malaysia, Company history, current issue related to company’s business, company’s culture etc. go easy on it…don’t ask killer question….

3) it’s ok to ask question that u already know part of the answer…just to show u did the research just wantto be sure of the accuracy of ur research

4) Limit yourself to 4 questions the max….

5) After you already got the job, before signing the contract, that’s the time where you can ask Many many many questions about the position, job, companies etc….so no worries!

Hope it helps….c u all in my next tip..
